Why does Igloo think the Winter Uplift is important?
The Winter Uplift is our way of helping you through your first winter, when you sign up between the 1st September and 31st March. Read through this article for more information on the winter uplift before reading about how to opt out.
Should you opt-out of Winter Uplift?
Winter Uplift is optional, so you decide. Before you opt-out please make sure you are confident in the details you used to calculate your quote when you switched to us. Ideally it should be based on a full 12 month period at the same property. If you have recently moved in, or you used an estimate from a price comparison site calculated using your monthly payments or house details, we suggest opting into the winter uplift. Why? The estimates provided are indicative of what you might use based on the previous occupier and cannot always be relied on to forecast what you will actually use.
By opting into the winter uplift you have the opportunity to avoid building up debt on your account if the estimates do not align with your actual usage.
I’m confident I know what I’m using, how do I opt-out?
If you don't want the winter uplift added, you can opt-out here. Just so you know, if you have a payment due in the next 5 working days, the change will take effect in next month’s payment.
